Process of Investment Casting

• Tool Building : Make an aluminum alloy die by machining.

• Wax Injection : Wax is injected into the die to produce a pattern.

• Pattern Assembly : Pattern are glued to wax runner bars, this assembly is referred to as a tree.

• Shell Building : Dip the tree into a slurry to build up a ceramic shell.

• Wax Removal : Wax is removed from the shell mold in a steam autoclave.

• Pouring : Pour molten metal into the preheated ceramic shell molds.

• Shell Removal : When metal has cooled, ceramic shell is broken off by vibration.

• Cut Off : Cut the parts away from the tree, gate removal.

• Surface Blasting : Sand blasting to clean the parts.

• Initial Inspection : Trimming and inspection.

• Heat Treatment : Anneal, Solution...

• Shaping : Press by hydraulic or manual to reshape the parts.

• Machining or Surface Treatment : Turning, milling, tapping...& black oxide, electro polish...

• Final Inspection : With coordinate measuring machine, hardness tester...& visual inspection.
